In an effort to document my culinary disasters and triumphs, complete with pictures (I love my Nikon D80 which has been a bit neglected since the start of my official lawyerdom), I officially devirginize this blog. I've actually kept a scrapbook, with my random handwritten notes of what works and what doesn't, with articles and recipes pasted in with a glue stick. I know, very 1980s collage, but really, there is no better way to do it. Plus, any time I get to play with a glue stick is great fun. After wasting hundreds of hours of my free time reading and drooling over other people's food blogs like forbidden porn, printing out countless recipes, and jotting down their culinary secrets, I've decided its time to start sharing the love, if only with myself.
I'm a world traveler (actually managed to fill my passport completely), mambo addict, martial artist, amateur photographer, climber of all things high and remote (from Ciudad Perdida to Mount Sinai to Half Dome), and reluctant international lawyer who seeks perfection from food made completely from all-natural, all-organic, all-nutrient dense goodness. Everything in this kitchen is made from scratch, the way food was meant to be. I am also a fitness buff who spends the other 50% of my free time when not cooking or planning on my next meal in the gym, at the dojo, dancing, bending my body in funny positions at yoga, hiking, and all of that good stuff. On I'm a mission to be a mean lean kung fu kitchen master.
Since I've switched to a whole food approach to my way of eating (I refuse to actually call it a diet since it doesn't feel like a diet and the only thing I do differently is LISTEN to my body), I've lost 5 pounds in three weeks. I sleep deeper and less. I have more energy, enough to work out in the morning and hit the dojo at night sometimes. My arm muscles are getting ripped from kneading dough and carrying countless groceries from Whole Foods (haha, Whole Paycheck, I love you, but the new organic grocery on 14th will give you a run for your money). My freezer is full of non-processed, homemade deliciousness. It has also brought me closer to my friends as I love to entertain and find the food I make at home with a glass of wine and good company always is more satisfying than an overpriced restaurant.
